Tales from the
FEI Awards
Gala 2018:
Part One

05 December 2018

We go behind the scenes at last month's star-studded event in Bahrain which celebrated the cream of equestrian in 2018...

Natasha Baker isn't one to be lost for words, but she was blown away on being asked to keep her diary free in November so she could co-host the prestigious FEI Awards Gala at Bahrain's luxurious Ritz Carlton Hotel.

The multiple Paralympic gold medallist, who took on presenting duties with young Dressage star Juan Matute Guimon, said she was "so excited" to be asked, with a winter trip to the sun of "beautiful" Bahrain making the job all the more appealing.

In this new Equestrian World video we go behind the scenes at the FEI Awards 2018 Gala, as Natasha and Juan deal with a few pre-show butterflies and discuss the fabulous characters who were nominated for the gongs. We then watch as Victor Levecque is named Longines Rising Star and Lee McKeever picks up the award as Best Groom for his work with Mclain Ward.

Jumping star Mclain was thrilled to see Lee take the Best Groom award and paid tribute to his friend's work...

"He knows the horses better than anybody," Mclain said. "He knows how to have their conditioning and their health, as well as how to deal with injuries and prevent injuries.

"There has never been a moment where I doubted that my horses were in the best of care."
