All the latest Eventing action...
Olympic gold medallists Julia Krajewski and Laura Collett are leading the way for their nations in a thrilling final round of the 2024 FEI Eventing Nations Cup™ series.
Krajewski’s Germany and Collett’s Great Britain currently stand first and second respectively among 11 competing nations in Boekelo (NED) following the dressage phase. See the standings here.
Germany and Great Britain are rivals not just for success in Boekelo but were also tied in joint second place in the overall standings behind series leaders France ahead of this week’s action. It promises to be an exciting weekend with cross country and jumping from Boekelo streamed live on Saturday and Sunday on FEI TV.
Collett’s Dacapo delight
Two-time Olympic Team gold medallist Collett achieved the best dressage score on Friday with her 15-year-old gelding Dacapo (pictured above). However, German athletes take up the second, third and fourth places, with Tokyo 2020 Olympic Individual gold medallist Krajewski heading that group with her Paris 2024 mount Nickel 21.
Germany finished the dressage phase on 76.2, with Great Britain on 80.4. France are currently third in the standings in Boekelo on 87.8 thanks to top scorers Astier Nicolas & Alertamalib'or, with Belgium, the USA and Ireland just behind. They are followed by Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, New Zealand and Italy.
France are represented by Nicolas as well as Sébastien Cavaillon & Elipso De La Vigne, Alexis Goury & Je'vall, and Benjamin Massié & Figaro Fonroy. As well as winning Team silver at the Paris 2024 Olympics, France’s eventers have enjoyed an exceptional FEI Eventing Nations Cup™ season with two victories and two podium positions in the four events they have entered. They won in Boekelo last year and could well be celebrating victory in both the leg and the series come Sunday.
Hansen-Hotopp high
Germany’s team consists of Krajewski (pictured above) as well as Emma Brüssau & Dark Desire GS, Malin Hansen-Hotopp & Carlitos Quidditch, and Anna Siemer & FRH Butts Avondale. Hansen-Hotopp and her mount scored well right at the end of the day to help Germany leapfrog Great Britain and head into the weekend at the top of the leaderboard.
Collett is joined on the Great Britain team by Emily King & Jackpot, Kitty King & Cristal Fontaine, and Izzy Taylor & SBH Big Wall.
Other big names in Boekelo include Belgium’s Luhmühlen 2024 winner Lara de Liedekerke and New Zealand’s Olympians Tim Price and Jonelle Price.
The Military Boekelo show is one of the highlights of the European year with around 60,000 visitors annually. Watch all the action on FEI TV.
