The Dressage programme began with two days of qualifiers for the Team and Individual finals, which would follow a few days later. Six groups, each featuring 10 Athletes, performed in a Grand Prix competition across the two days. All 60 combinations were looking to qualify for the Individual final, with 15 nations also aiming for one of 10 places in the Team final.

Day two saw the first appearances at the Paris 2024 Olympics of Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl & TSF Dalera and Isabell Werth & Wendy. Great Britain’s World champions Charlotte Fry & Glamourdale were also in action. Watch it here.
Team Dressage final
The Paris 2024 Olympics arguably saw the most dramatic finish in the history of Dressage competitions at the Games. Denmark and Germany were vying at the top for gold, with the former’s Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour & Freestyle producing a superb Grand Prix Special performance to put all the pressure on World No.1 Jessica Von Bredow-Werndl, who was last to go.
Could the German star pair do enough to secure yet another Team gold, or would World champions Denmark now take the Olympic title? Watch the Team final here.
Individual Dressage final
The top 18 combinations returned for the final day of Dressage action to compete for Individual medals in the Grand Prix Freestyle. It was a memorable day at the sun-soaked Palace of Versailles as Horse and Athlete duos presented their routines in tandem with their own music track.
Defending champions Jessica von Bredow-Werndl & TSF Dalera and stars such as Isabell Werth and Charlotte Fry were among the favourites. The home fans also got the opportunity to cheer for France’s Pauline Basquin & Sertorius De Rima Z. Click here to watch the Dressage programme reach its climax.

‘It was a thriller!’
At the end of the Team final, the victorious German trio knew they had been in a mighty battle that might well not have gone in their favour.
“We did it! It was too exciting to be honest, and at the end the margin was so tiny,” said Von Bredow-Werndl.
Despite being the most medalled athlete in all of equestrian sport, Werth was near-breathless with the excitement of the Team final.
“That was a thriller!” she said. “At the end I didn't believe that we got it because it was so very close. Now nobody can ever say again that Dressage is boring!” she added with a huge laugh.
Individual bronze medallist Fry said she was very proud of Glamourdale after securing her medal on the final day of Dressage.
“I 100% knew he was capable of it, but to be able to pull it off in there today and get the bronze is just incredible,” she said. “The support from the crowd was amazing and the prize-giving was just insane! That feeling going around with Jessica and Isabell – two idols and huge inspirations in our sport – was just incredible.”
