Isabell Werth and her stunning mare Weihegold Old again proved in last month’s FEI World Cup™ Dressage Final that they are a match made in heaven.

A wonderful rider and incredible horse bring out the best in each other, and that’s why they currently dominate the Dressage world.

In the build up to the FEI World Cup™ Dressage Final in Paris, Equestrian World caught up with Isabell, where she talked openly about her special bond with Weihegold Old…

Weihe is "really special"

Having won the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final together in 2017 and 2018, no one knows Weihe as a competitor like Isabell, and she admits the modern day black beauty gives her "goosebumps".

“Weihe is so focused, so honest and so easy with everything,” Isabell says.

“You really can celebrate her, especially at the end in the freestyle. It's always a moment where you get goosebumps because of the whole package that makes her really special.”

Having dominated the World Cup season and looking clear at the top of the world rankings, Isabell knows she’s the target of all her rivals.

While some may baulk at that kind of pressure, the German is inspired.

“They will try to catch me, and this is what I like,” she says.

“I know when Weihe is in top shape it will be difficult to beat us.”
