The tenth FEI Vaulting World Championship took place in small Austrian town of Stadl-Paura.

Despite its modest size, the locality boast a prestigious equestrian centre, the oldest buildings of which date as far back as 1807.

Individual female

Nicola Ströh (GER) won gold in the individual female category followed by Rikke Laumann (DEN), who took the silver, and fellow countrywoman Ines Jückstöck, who was in bronze.

This was a third participation in a world championship for Ströh, who had already competed in Mannheim (GER) in 2000 winning silver in the FEI World Equestrian Games ™ (WEG) 2002 in Jerez de la Frontera (ESP) placing fourth. After Stadl-Paura, she would go on competing at the 2006 WEG on home ground in Aachen. Her last participation in a world championship was in Brno (CZE) where she finished on a high conquering the gold medal.

Individual male

Kai Vorberg (GER) won his first world title, out of two, ahead of the 2000 and 2002 champion Matthias Lang (FRA), who took the silver, and Jan Bayer – another German vaulter, who was awarded the bronze.

From 1998 to 2010, Vorberg participated in seven world championships winning five medals – two gold and three silver – along the way. He is now a qualified trainer, having obtained his certification in 2015, and is the assistant-trainer of the Germany Vaulting team.

Team title

Germany took the team time for the sixth consecutive and seventh time overall. Switzerland won silver and the USA were in bronze.
