The sixth FEI Endurance Championship was held at Fort Riley, KS (USA) in September 1996.

The historical United States Army installation, located in north Kansas, had been the site of the renowned US Cavalry from 1887 until it ceased operation in 1946.

Mother and daughter

Individual gold went to home rider Danielle Crouse, the daughter of Valery Kanavy, who had conquered the title at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ 1994 in The Hague (NED). In fact, Danielle the same horse – Pieraz – her mother had four years earlier.

Valerie was awarded individual silver aboard TK Fire N Gold. This was her second major accolade at world championship level after the The Hague. Kanavy would go on to compete in four more world championships in 1998, 2008, 2010, and 2012 and win the title in 1998 in Abu Dhabi, Al Wathba (UAE).

Frenchman Jacques David on Nelson I took the bronze.

The teams

The USA took team gold followed by France in silver and Switzerland in bronze.
