Located some 40 km south of Vienna, from 11 to 15 August 1988 and gathered athletes from 16 Nations.

The Swiss take team gold

Switzerland won its first of three Vaulting World team titles followed by Germany, who were in silver, and Poland took the bronze.

Germany reigns supreme

Germany left no place for rivalry among the individuals with all the medals in the male and female categories going to vaulters from that nation.

The 1986 individual female champion Silke Bernhard repeated here achievement conquering her second title. Silke Gutermuth and Christine Otto-Kanstinger were in silver and bronze respectively.

Christoph Lensing won the individual male title followed by Michael Lehner in silver and the 1986 champion Dietmar Otto took the bronze.
