Sporting philosophy / motto "Ten years ago, we were karting. Now we are doing Formula One. I think that pretty much sums up the evolution of equestrian sport. By that, I mean it's an accumulation of details. All the riders are now extremely good, all the horses too and the selections are much tighter. Before you could have a rider who rode badly, but with a good horse could achieve things. That time is now over. Today, only excellence pays, as in all sports. Everything has become much more precise, whether in care or in the approach to the sport itself." (jump-inside.com, 07 Jul 2019)
Famous relatives His father Marcel and his uncle Hubert Parot were both part of the French equestrian jumping squad that won team gold at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. His brother Thierry has competed in the sport at national level. (SportsDeskOnline, 29 Jan 2015; espace-rozier.com, 22 Aug 2007)
Other information SOLIDARITY During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic he began helping equestrian centres in the Ile-de-France region in France by offering one-hour training sessions to amateur riders, who would pay for the coaching. The benefits were then used to feed the horses. "I realised that horses needed to be fed, and then I had an idea. I immediately thought about training sessions and donations. At the time all competitions are cancelled, so we had the time to do that." (leparisien.fr, 07 Jun 2020; leperon.fr, 19 Apr 2020) AUTOBIOGRAPHY In 2017 he published his autobiography called 'Fils de' [Son of]. "My father was already a star when I started. My whole life I heard that, when I lost, I would never reach his level, and when I won that I had only done it because of him." (lemonde.fr, 17 Mar 2017) COACH In April 2021 he was appointed coach of the Monaco showjumping team. He coached the Moroccan national team from 2012 to 2017.
