She took an 18-month break from international competition after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2018. She underwent a mastectomy in December 2018, followed by 16 rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatment, before returning to the sport. "I am still recovering, but I'm back working out four times a week and I have already ridden a few times. Slowly everything seems to be moving in a good way." (eurodressage.com, 24 Nov 2019)
