Born in Denmark, she took US citizenship after moving to New York, NY, United States of America, when her husband became sales manager for a Danish brewery. They then founded their own watch business, which was sold in 2012 for around 237 million USD. She has since set up a multi-national clothing company called Kastel Denmark. "I got sunburnt and had a skin cancer scare, so I decided to design clothes with a protective UV screen. I have set myself a target of 50 million USD in revenue by 2020."
