Injuries In August 2017, on his 62nd birthday, he fell from his horse while competing at the Global Champions Tour event in London, England. He was taken to hospital but was given the all clear, allowing him to return to riding the following week. (, 09 Aug 2017)

In December 2000 he became ill and collapsed prior to a show in Stockholm, Sweden. He was taken to hospital with a suspected brain haemorrhage and needed emergency surgery to correct the problem.
