International FEI Medication Control Forum
19 January 2007Hosted by the UAE Equestrian FederationThe FEI is pleased to announce details of an International Forum on Medication Control, hosted by the UAE Equestrian Federation. The Forum will take place in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on Wednesday 14th February 2007. Location of the Forum is at the Police Headquarters on the outskirts of the City. It will commence at 12.00 noon and finish at 18.30pm. FEI National Federations are invited to send representatives to the Forum which is open to Riders, Trainers, Owners, Veterinarians and FEI Officials.

19 July 2006To make a clear distinction between the use of routine, legitimate medication and deliberate and calculated doping to affect a horse’s performance, the FEI has published Guidelines to assist treating and team veterinarians. The objectives are to protect the welfare of the horse, defend the integrity of the sport and to reassure the public.

19 July 2006Following the positive medication case which occurred at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, the FEI has radically changed its doping and medication policy. This includes a clear differentiation between doping and medication, the adoption of a new body of anti-doping and medication control rules and prohibited list of substances, and additional research into detection times for certain commonly used medications in order to better inform those responsible for their horses as to how to best treat them while playing by the rules.
