FEI AND OIE ADVISE WORLD CARGO SYMPOSIUM ON AIR TRANSPORTATION OF HORSES
28 March 2013FEI President and OIE (World Organisation for Animal Health) Goodwill Ambassador HRH Princess Haya opened a special session by video message on the air transportation of sport horses at the 7th World Cargo Symposium, organised by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Doha (Qatar) earlier this month.
The session, attended by global air transport experts, focussed on the regulatory and logistical challenges of transporting horses as the growth of international equestrian sport reaches a record high.
FEI AND OIE ANNOUNCE ACTION PLAN FOR SPORT HORSES
18 February 2013The FEI and the World Animal Health Organisation (OIE) have embarked on a three-year plan in response to growing demand from countries for help in improving cross-border movement of top-level sport horses, as participation in equestrian competitions reaches a record high.
Several proposals have been made under the plan, including a full-time secondment of a senior veterinarian to OIE headquarters in Paris, who will work directly with top level officers.

7 December 2012Over 60 government representatives and veterinary and horse sport experts from 23 countries will head to Panama City next week (11-13 December) for a summit on the international movement of horses.
The talks have been convened by the World Animal Health Organisation (OIE) and the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) at a time when participation in equestrian sport has reached a record high in South America, and with the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon.
FEI addresses Olympic Sports Federations’ medical chiefs on equine injury surveillance
19 October 2012Yves Rossier, Vice Chair of the FEI Veterinary Committee, delivered a presentation on equine injury surveillance at the annual International Olympic Sports Federations’ Medical Commission Chairpersons conference held at the IOC Headquarters in Lausanne (SUI) yesterday.
The Canadian, who was head of the Olympic Veterinary Clinic in Greenwich Park at the London 2012 Olympic Games, took a year’s sabbatical leave from his work as Professor of Equine Sports Medicine at the University of Montreal to complete a study on Injury Surveillance in FEI Horses.

2013 FEI EQUINE PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES LIST IN EFFECT FROM 1 JANUARY
2 October 2012The FEI Equine Prohibited Substance List for 2013, which has now been approved by the FEI Bureau, will come into force on 1 January 2013.
Following a period of consultation with the National Federations, the FEI List Group held its most recent meeting during the London 2012 Paralympics and signed off changes to the List for 2013, which include five new substances and other amendments.

29 May 2012The OIE and FEI called for new protocols for the movement of “high health, high performance” sport horses at the 80th General Session of the World Assembly of World Animal Health Organisation (OIE) Delegates in Paris last week.
The OIE and FEI are continuing their collaboration to define and create a sub-population of horses to reflect the high health status of top level, international equestrian sport horses.

FEI List Group to add GABA and Hydroxy-GABA to Prohibited List
7 May 2012The FEI has warned its member National Federations against the use of Gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) and Hydroxy-gamma butyric acid (Hydroxy-GABA), following advice from the FEI List Group. The warning has been issued outside the List Group’s usual annual review process.
