Springtime at the Kentucky Horse Park
Springtime in Lexington’s Bluegrass Region is famous for flowering dogwood trees, thoroughbred racing at the Keeneland Race Course and Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. But there is so much more to take part in at the Kentucky Horse Park during the spring months. Events are open to the public and offer something fun for everyone. Here’s a look at what’s happening at the Kentucky Horse Park this spring: U.S. Polo National Intercollegiate Championships The United State Polo Association is bringing one of its most coveted trophies to the Kentucky Horse Park for the first time in history—the USPA National Intercollegiate Championships. The event is schedule for April 2-7, and event organizers are particularly pleased to have Lexington’s own University of Kentucky Polo Team as participants. For more information, visit www.us-polo.org. Driving a Horse Have you always wanted to learn to drive horses? Now you can at the Kentucky Horse Park! On April 22, participants will learn how to introduce a horse to harness, fit the harness, put the horse to the cart as well as pulling weight, holding back, and training to shaft. The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event The Rolex Kentucky is the only four-star, three-day equestrian event in the Americas and embodies four-star competition at its finest. Egyptian Event The Egyptian Event, scheduled for June 4-10, brings together hundreds of Egyptian Arabian horses from across the country to compete in a variety of events and an endurance race. Festival of the Bluegrass The Festival of the Bluegrass is a gathering of some of the nation’s finest Bluegrass musicians in the country for performances and programs for all ages.
