INTRODUCTION: ANTI-DOPING AND ADAMS

The WADA Code is the core document that provides the framework for harmonized anti-doping policies in international sports. The FEI is a signatory to the Code, and as such must comply and ensure the compliance of its athletes with the Code's testing requirements both in and out of competition.

Under the World Anti-Doping Code, WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) has an obligation to coordinate anti-doping activities and to provide a mechanism  to assist stakeholders with their implementation of the Code. The Anti-Doping Administration & Management System (ADAMS) was developed for this purpose.

ADAMS is a web-based database management tool that simplifies the daily activities of all stakeholders. This system allows data entry, storage, sharing and reporting. It supports the result management, the administration of Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs), the athletes’ whereabouts information and test distribution planning.

Not only is it easy to use, but also it is free to WADA's stakeholders in French, English, Spanish, German, Arabic, Japanese and Russian, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the fight against doping in sport.

All data in ADAMS are stored in a highly secure environment and access is carefully controlled to ensure that data is available to relevant parties only.

WHICH ATHLETES IS ADAMS MEANT FOR?

ADAMS is primarily meant for (i) athletes in the international and national testing pools for the submission and management of whereabouts information, and (ii) athletes who need to submit requests for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs).

HOW TO USE ADAMS

ADAMS has four core functionalities addressing the key activities of anti-doping operations (FEI Athletes are requested to only use the ADAMS program to submit their Whereabouts):

1. Athlete Whereabouts
This Web-based functionality allows athletes to comply with the whereabouts rules of their sport by entering their information from anywhere in the world. Additionally, ADAMS supports the delegation of this responsibility to an authorized representative such as team manager, agent or other third party.
This functionality also helps anti-doping organizations share whereabouts information, crucial for supporting athletes so that they do not need to enter their whereabouts more than once via multiple means. Athletes can also modify their whereabouts through the use of SMS messaging to ADAMS.

SUGGESTED FIRST STEPS IN USING ADAMS

In order to ensure the best information, we recommend that NFs and Athletes follow the procedure below:

1) Read the ADAMS Overview Presentation.
2) View the ADAMS video:http://www.youtube.com/wadamovies.
3) Consult the User Guide for Athletes.
4) Obtain a login and password from the FEI by contacting Catherine Bollon (if you wish to practice before using ADAMS to submit Whereabouts, please request an account on the "training environment").
5) To log-in into ADAMS as a user, click on the ADAMS icon in the Resources center on top of this page.
6) Use the ADAMS Quick Reference Card for Athletes to help you enter your whereabouts on ADAMS.
