FEI Open European Endurance Championships for Juniors/Young Riders
Zabreh na Morave (CZE), 15-17 September 2006Fifty-seven horse and rider combinations competed at the team and individual FEI Open European Endurance Championships for Juniors/Young Riders held in Zabreh na Morave (CZE) from 15 to 17 September. With the weather absolutely perfect, and a technically challenging but fair course in and around the countryside close to the town, teams from 15 nations enjoyed a great day of international competition. During the event, four competitors chose to retire their horses; at the request of the Veterinary panel, the Ground Jury withdrew 14 further horses producing an overall completion rate of 69%. The results in each of the classifications were: Open and European Team Results: Gold – France Silver – Spain Bronze – Belgium Open Individual Results: Gold – The Netherlands (Carmen Romer riding Fadilah) Silver – Italy (Carlo Di Battista riding Amir Di Pegaso) Bronze – UAE (Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Faisal Al Qassimi riding Indy Daurabelle European Individual Results: Gold – The Netherlands (Carmen Romer riding Fadilah) Silver – Italy (Carlo Di Battista riding Amir Di Pegaso) Bronze – France (Jean D’Aiello riding Galago) “The Championship produced a wonderful day of equestrian sport,” Hallvard Sommerseth, chairman of the FEI Endurance Committee, commented. “Whilst there were great competitive performances, there were also many examples of riders and crews working together in the true spirit of Endurance”.
