Foundation Names Media Service Committee for 2010 Games

11 May 2007

The World Games 2010 Foundation, Inc., the organisers of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, announced the formation of a Media Services committee today. The committee’s primary responsibility will be to advise the Foundation on a broad range of media relations issues for the 2010 Games. The Media Services Committee, currently comprised of 14 equine and journalism industry professionals, specifically will consult with the Foundation on how to prepare for and accommodate the media covering the Games including all methods of communication with the media, the credentialing process for media and the overall structure and operation of the media center operation, which will house media during the 16-day competition. “We are pleased to announce the formation of the Media Services Committee for the Games,” stated Jack Kelly, CEO of the Foundation. “Having the interest as well as the sound counsel of industry professionals will help to ensure that we have successful media operations throughout the Games, and we are fortunate to have such a distinguished group of experienced practitioners assisting us in this process.” Media Service Committee members include: Chris Stafford (Chair) has been an equestrian media professional for more than 30 years and is currently Vice President, Production & News Director for The HorseTV Channel. Craig Cornwell has been Kentucky Educational Television’s Director of Programming since 1994. He began his career in television in 1974 and has since worked for ABC affiliates in Kentucky, New York and Virginia. Alastair Martin-Bird is the FEI (Federation Equestre Internationale) TV Coordinator and owner of Martin Bird Productions in the United Kingdom. Jamie Saults is a freelance equestrian professional in print, broadcast and press relations. Marnye Langer is a freelance equestrian journalist and author. She also is a principle of the Langer Equestrian Group. John Strassburger was Editor of The Chronicle of the Horse for 20 years. He is a freelance journalist and author and currently serves event clients in press and public relations. Lisa Jackson is Director of Marketing at the Kentucky Horse Park, host site of the 2010 Games and annual host of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. Nancy Jaffer has been a freelance equestrian journalist/photographer for more than thirty years. Charles Mann has been an equine photographer for 25 years. Brian Sosby is editor of the United States Equestrian Federation’s Equestrian magazine. Julie Balog is Director of Public Relations at The Keeneland Racecourse. Julie Koenig is Vice President of Communications at Churchill Downs. Ron Garrison is the Visuals Editor at the Lexington Herald-Leader. The World Games 2010 Foundation is the organization responsible for planning and executing the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. The Games, which will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park, are the world championships of the eight equestrian disciplines recognized by the FEI and are held every four years. The World Equestrian Games have never before been held outside of Europe; nor have all eight disciplines ever previously been held together at a single site— both firsts that will be achieved at the Kentucky Horse Park. The 2010 Games are expected to have a statewide economic impact of $150 million. It is anticipated that more than 600,000 spectators will attend the 16-day competition.
