FELIX VOGG (SUI) WINS FEI WORLD CUP™ EVENTING 2012 TITLE

Switzerland’s Felix Vogg has won the FEI World Cup™ Eventing 2012 title. The 22-year-old finished the World Cup season on 86 points, level with Belgium’s Karin Donckers, but under the series rules, in the event of equality, the rider with the highest placing is declared the winner and Vogg’s second place finish in Strzegom (POL) has secured him the title and the winner’s cheque of €9,000.

FEI World Cup™ Eventing: Vakin roars to victory at Minsk

Russian rider Maksim Vakin, 32, riding the 11-year-old Harley Davidson, led from the start to win at Minsk (BLR), the second leg of the FEI World Cup™ Eventing 2012. Vakin now moves into second place in the series standings behind Germany’s Sandra Auffarth, winner of the inaugural competition at Strzegom (POL).

Germany is proving the nation to beat this year, after European silver medallist Sandra Auffarth opened the 2012 FEI World Cup™ Eventing with a convincing victory at Strzegom (POL) at the weekend and led her team to a second win in the FEI Nations Cup™ Eventing series.

Germany, which won the inaugural competition at Fontainebleau (FRA) in March, now has a commanding lead of 13 points over Spain at the halfway mark in the FEI's brand new team Eventing series....

Clarke Johnstone (NZL) was celebrating with a large bottle of champagne, part of his spoils from Haras du Pin (FRA), where he finally sealed victory in the FEI World Cup™ Eventing 2011.

“I’ve just flown five horses from New Zealand to England, so I’m not really in credit at the moment!” joked Johnstone. “But this is a very satisfying result and I’m going to enjoy it.”
