FEI Nations Cup Promotional Leagues
The FEI Nations Cup Series, the equestrian world's oldest and most prestigious team competition dates back to 1909. With the exception of Games and Championships, it is the only competition in which official teams representing nations compare their merit.
In order to increase interest among riders, media and spectators, the format of the FEI Nations Cup was revised in 2003 to include a top league (the world’s best 8 teams) and a promotional league. A relegation/promotion system exists between the top league (the Meydan FEI Nations Cup™) and the promotional league, whereby the two last placed teams are relegated from the top league while the first two placed teams from the promotional league are promoted to the top league for the following season.
Rules for the 2010 FEI Nations Cup Series as well as the 2010 Calendar of Events (showing Meydan FEI Nations Cup™, Promotional Leagues in Europe, North and South America and the Middle East) can be found here.
