FEI MEDIA ADVISORY: PRESS ACCREDITATION FOR THE LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES

17 January 2011

We wish to remind all written and photographic press wishing to apply for accreditation for the London 2012 Olympic Games to contact the National Olympic Committee in the country in which their media organisation is based (Click here for the contact details of your NOC).

The allocation of press accreditations is the responsibility of National Olympic Committees. It is not the responsibility of the International Olympic Committee, the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG), or the International Federations. The procedure set up for the accreditation of specialised media for the 2008 Olympic equestrian events held in Hong Kong was an exception to this rule given the special circumstances and the great distance between the equestrian venue and the Olympic host city.

KEY DATES
27 July 2010
IOC notifies all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of their press accreditation allocation for London 2010.

August 2010 – January 2011

Press wishing to apply for accreditation should contact their NOC.

27 February 2011
Press by Number forms sent to NOCs by London 2012, including the Media Guide, Accommodation Guide, Rate Card and Freight and Shipping Guide.

27 May 2011
NOCs return the completed Press by Number forms to London 2012 and inform the press organisations within their territory of their accreditation allocations.

27 October 2011
Press by Name forms sent to NOCs by London 2012.

27 January 2012
NOCs return the completed Press by Name forms to London 2012, listing the names of each press representative they have agreed to accredit.

April 2012
London 2012 distributes non-valid Olympic Identity and Accreditation Cards (OIAC) to National Olympic Committees to send to their press organizations. The OIAC will act as a visa to enter the United Kingdom.

27 July – 12 August 2012
London 2012 Olympic Games

Full details on the accreditation procedure are available on the official website of the International Olympic Committee, www.olympic.org.

The FEI is aware of the high media interest for the 2012 Olympic equestrian events and suggests that journalists and photographers encountering problems with the process explained above should contact FEI Press Relations. Although the final decision on the allocation of Olympic accreditations does not rest with the FEI, the FEI will of course do its best to assist specialist photographers and journalists in the accreditation process for London.
