2006 FEI World Equestrian Games Update: Driving

The Flying DutchmanAt the end of a thrilling Marathon day, The Netherland’s Ysbrand Chardon takes the lead with a total result of 145.30 after two competition days. Felix Marie Brasseur of Belgium is in runner up position (146.37); Thomas Eriksson is third (153.24). There’s no end to Aachen’s wonders and today’s marathon course was one of them. The marathon, the object of which is to test the fitness, stamina and training of the horses and the driving skill, judgement of pace and general horsemanship of the drivers, .consists of three sections: A, D and E.Read more

Let’s toast the winners … with fresh Orange juice, of course!At the end of what can only be described as the most exciting, electrifying, exhilarating, in one word truly unforgettable Team Jumping Final, The Netherlands seize the gold medal finishing on the impressive score of 11.01. The silver goes to the USA (18.85) and the bronze to Germany, the home team, with 19.16. As a rule, the two rounds of the Nations Cup competition are held on the same day over the same course, but Aachen is special in every way.Read more

2006 FEI World Equestrian Games Update: Driving

Dress and DriveAfter the first phase of the Driving competition, which began yesterday and continued today, Chester C. Weber (USA) is in the lead with 75.8% (38.78 points). Ysbrand Chardon (NED) is second (41.22 points – 74.2%) and Germany’s Michael Freund is third only 0.2% behind (74% - 41.60 points). Chester Weber was very pleased with his horses who had performed a remarkable test despite the somewhat deep footing. Ysbrand Chardon also congratulated Chester on his performance.Read more

Bright OrangeThe second day of Jumping was just as exciting and promising as anticipated. Some 114 riders – 25 teams along with 23 individual riders – took part in the first round of the Nations Cup competition. With three clear rounds and a score of 7.01 penalty points, The Netherlands (Piet Raymakers / Van Schijndel’s Curtis; Jeroen Dubbeldam / BMC Up And Down; Albert Zoer / Okidoki; Gerco Schröder / Eurocommerce Berlin) are in the lead.Read more

Hey, hey, hey, jump, jump, jump the USAToday, Jumping made its spectacular entrance on the sporting scene of the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games. The winner of the speed competition – one of four part of the World Championship programme – is Beezie Madden (USA) aboard Authentic (77.62 time faults – 0 points). Eric Lamaze (CAN) on Hickstead is second (78.40 time penalties – 0.39 points) and Gerco Schröder (NED) on Eurocommerce Berlin is third (78.47 time penalties – 0.43 points).Read more
