With the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games almost over, it is time to turn to the future and take a look at the sixth WEG edition, the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010. A press conference presenting the organisers’ vision and plans was held today. In attendance were Ernie Fletcher, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky; Jack Kelly, CEO of the Organizing Committee; John Nicholson, President of the Kentucky Horse Park, as well as Dr Pearse Lyons, CEO and President of Alltech, the title sponsor of the Games, and the FEI President HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein.Read more

Driving for goldThe Driving competition of the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games came to an exciting end yesterday with the Individual title going to Belgian driver Felix Marie Brasseur (146.3). 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games Update: Jumping

Ladies firstAt the end of a thrilling fourth day, the four riders who will compete for the Individual title of 2006 World Jumping Champion are: Beezie Madden (USA) on Athentic; Jos Lansink (BEL) on Cavalor Cumano; Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (GER) on Shutterly, and Edwina Alexander (AUS) on Isovlas Pialotta. It is the first time in the history of the FEI World Equestrian Games that three of the four riders entering the Final with change of horse are women.Read more

IOC President visits Aachen

Today the IOC President Jacques Rogge visited Aachen, site of the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games, on the invitation of the FEI President. He met with FEI officials and staff members, Olympic champions and members of the Organising Committee and watched the Jumping competition. “It is a great pleasure to attend the FEI World Equestrian Games here in Aachen and I thank the FEI for their invitation,” the IOC President declared. “I have been impressed by the professionalism, level and quality of the competitions.Read more

FEI World Equestrian Games Update: Reining

It’s Reining Men!With 74 competitors from 22 countries, reining made its spectacular appearance on the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games scene. The cowboys were proud to show themselves to the world and the world was happy to see them. In front of some 8,000 excited spectators, team USA (Dell Hendricks / Starbucks Sidekick; Tim McQuay / Mister Nicadual; Matt Mills / Easy Otie Whiz; Aaron Ralston / Smart Paul Olena) became the 2006 World Team Reining Champions with a total score of 665.0.Read more
