Kentucky Horse Park: the Keeneland Association

Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010 - four years to go

Today, 25 September, we celebrate four years to go until the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010 are officially opened in Kentucky (USA). Aachen 2006 - the Games Are Finished Much happened this summer in Aachen – great sport, brave horses, enthusiastic crowds – but before we turn that glorious page for good, here are some figures which you always wondered about and never dared to ask. Some 852 horses competed at Aachen. They were accommodated in 393 permanent and 360 temporary boxes. They used 2,500 bales of straw and 5,000 bales of shavings.Read more

2006 FEI World Equestrian Games Update: Jumping

3 September 2006
We are the champions, we are the champions, of the worldAt the end of a grandiose Jumping Finale, Jos Lansink (BEL) was crowned the 2006 World Individual Jumping Champion without having committed, himself or his grey stallion Cavalor Cumano, a single mistake for the whole competition with rotation of horses. The silver goes to Beezie Madden (USA) and the bronze to Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (GER). It was a day of fabulous sport and, most importantly, of fun and pleasure. “It was a lot a fun,” a smiling bronze medallist Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum said.Read more

2006 FEI World Equestrian Games Update: Reining

3 September 2006
Reiners rock the crowd in AachenNineteen of the world’s finest Reiners left their mark in the 2006 World Equestrian Games Individual Reining Championship which took place today. It took a run off to determine who would take the gold medal after Duane Latimer from Canada and Tim McQuay from the USA both scored an incredible 230 thrilling the crowd which packed the stands. Riding Hang Ten Surprize, a six-year-old quarter horse stallion by Hangten Peppy owned by Howard Mann, Duane Latimer claimed the gold medal after scoring a 228 in the run off.Read more
