Equine Exhibition Proposal Process Underway for 2010 Games

10 March 2008

Request for Proposals (RFP) Application Available The World Games 2010 Foundation has announced it is requesting proposals for equine exhibitions and demonstrations to be showcased at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games at the Kentucky Horse Park, September 25-October 10, 2010.Equine organizations interested in hosting an exhibition or demonstration, for breeds, disciplines, or equestrian sports, must submit an application to the World Games 2010 Foundation. An electronic copy of the application is now availableonline. National organizations and recognized affiliates are strongly encouraged to either submit proposals on behalf of their breed or discipline, or to actively support proposals that exhibit cooperation within their breed or discipline. "The equine community will be gathering at the 2010 Games to meet and exchange new ideas, concepts and innovations in the industry, as well as showcase the best of the equine world to a truly global audience," said Foundation Director of Administration Holley Groshek. "We are very pleased with the early interest we have received in hosting professional, world-class exhibitions." The selection process is expected to be very thorough and competitive, and organizers anticipate the proposal review process to last through early 2009. The demonstrations, exhibitions, and other special events will be evaluated based on their ability to appeal to a wide audience, contribute to an overall varied equine exhibition, ability to be held at no cost to the World Games 2010 Foundation, and reflect the world class level of the FEI World Equestrian Games. Breed and discipline affiliate representatives will be involved in the proposal review process. "This will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase as many breeds as possible during the 2010 Games. It can really be a festival of horses like our country has never known," said John Long, CEO of the United States Equestrian Federation. "We hope to receive dozens of great proposals and believe it will be a prequel to an annual, all-breed show at the Kentucky Horse Park beginning in 2011." For additional information about the RFP process, contact Holley Groshek, Director of Administration for the 2010 Games World Foundation, at 859-255-2010 ext. 224 orhgroshek@feigames2010.org.  The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park September 25-October 10, 2010, are the world championships of the eight equestrian disciplines recognized by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), and are held every four years.  The Games have never before been held outside of Europe; nor have all eight disciplines ever previously been held together at a single site- both firsts that will be achieved at the Kentucky Horse Park. The 2010 Games are expected to have a state-wide economic impact of $150 million. It is anticipated that more than 600,000 ticketed spectators will attend the 16-day competition.  Media Contact: Amy Walker Office 859-255-2010 ext. 235 For more information on the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games visitwww.feigames2010.org
