For the purposes of the approval of this standard, TRL (Transport Research Laboratory (GBR)) has been used as the FEI approved inspection authority.
If needed, the FEI will examine requests to approve additional institutes to act as FEI approved inspection authority for the purposes of this standard. (04.06.2012)

1) Prior to 01/01/2013 a. The British Eventing Pins in the traditional setting were the first and only frangible device that received full approval by the FEI to be used in international competitions.
b. All other devices reverse pins, clips, logs. prologs. etc. where only approved to be used under testing conditions to encourage their development.2) After 01/01/2013 a. Any frangible deformable device to be used in international competition must fulfill the requirements set in art. 547.2.4 of the 2013 Eventing Rules.
547.2.4 Frangible/Deformable Obstacles
Obstacles can be provided with frangible/deformable technology only if such technology has been approved by the FEI according to the FEI Standard for the minimum strength of frangible/deformable cross country fences. A list of approved technologies is published on the FEI website.b. To date the FEI has received the application for the MIM devices that have been approved under the new standard and listed accordingly
c. The British Eventing Pins (in the traditional and reverse setting) and the Dutch logs are all currently under testing and the FEI expects the paperwork to be finalized in the next weeks.

AUSTRALIA SAFETY REPORT - SAFETY FOR HORSES AND RIDERS IN EVENTING (5 years research on riders and horses injuries related to falls on Cross Country) - THE SHARE DATABASE (17.06.08)
The AUS NF (EFA) have produced a Safety Report through the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC), based on 5 years research on riders and horses' injuries related to falls. The data collected was entered in a database and the full report is now available for download on the RIRDC website: https://rirdc.infoservices.com.au/items/08-027
