Victory for Germany’s golden girls at European Young Riders Eventing Championship

Germany claimed team and individual gold at this weekend’s European Young Riders Eventing Championship held in the Swedish port city of Malmö. The team, the only one to complete with four riders, won in convincing style having led from day one.
Germany's leading rider Pia Münker won individual gold with the seven-year-old Louis M. It was a deserved victory for the pair, who topped the leaderboard after Dressage and stayed in front throughout.

4 August 2012Andrew Nicholson (NZL) has taken over as world number one in the HSBC Rankings after the London 2012 Olympic Eventing competition in Greenwich Park.
Nicholson, captain of New Zealand’s bronze medal-winning team at London 2012, is now 46 points clear of William Fox-Pitt (GBR) who had led the HSBC Rankings since April. London 2012 is Andrew Nicholson’s sixth Olympic Games.

17 July 2012Nina Lamsam Ligon, winner of the FEI’s HSBC Rising Star Award 2011, is to represent Thailand in Eventing at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Thailand is one of the 10 nations represented only by individuals in Eventing. Ligon will compete on Butts Leon, an experienced four-star Hanoverian produced by German rider Andreas Dibowski. Butts Leon and Dibowski were on the German gold-winning medal team at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
FEI Nations Cup™ Eventing: Germany extends series lead with great Olympic send-off at Aachen
7 July 2012Germany scored a morale-boosting win in the fourth leg of the FEI Nations Cup™ Eventing, held on their home ground at Aachen (GER) and their final selection trial before the London Olympic Games.
The Germans, who also won last month in Strzegom (POL), have now opened up a 20-point lead in the FEI Nations Cup™ Eventing over the Dutch, with two events to run in this new series. Great Britain, the runners-up in Aachen, are in fourth place but on the same points tally as third-placed France.

18 June 2012Russian rider Maksim Vakin, 32, riding the 11-year-old Harley Davidson, led from the start to win at Minsk (BLR), the second leg of the FEI World Cup™ Eventing 2012. Vakin now moves into second place in the series standings behind Germany’s Sandra Auffarth, winner of the inaugural competition at Strzegom (POL).
