HSBC FEI CLASSICS™ 2012/2013: NICHOLSON CROWNS A GREAT YEAR WITH VICTORY AT PAU

Andrew Nicholson (NZL) crowned perhaps the best season of his long and distinguished career when he won Les Etoiles de Pau (FRA), the first leg of the 2012/2013 HSBC FEI Classics™, on Libby Sellars’ talented chestnut Nereo.
The only rider to complete on his Dressage score, Pau was Nicholson’s fourth consecutive international victory this autumn, following Burghley, Blenheim and Boekelo, and his fourth CCI4* triumph in a career that has spanned some 30 years.

Christopher Burton, Australia’s latest Eventing star, performed an outstanding Dressage test on Underdiscussion, to sweep into the lead at Les Etoiles de Pau, the first leg of the 2012/2013 HSBC FEI Classics™.
After a test that was full of impulsion and expression, Burton was awarded the only 10 of the day, by Ground Jury President Christian Landolt (SUI) for the halt, and heads a strong field with the good score of 34.8.

15 October 2012The German team produced yet another first-rate performance to win at Boekelo (NED), the final leg of the inaugural FEI Nations Cup™ Eventing, and rounded off what has been an outstanding year for the country’s senior riders with a comfortable victory in this new series.
Germany’s talented squad, which included two members of the Olympic gold medal winning team in London - Michael Jung and Ingrid Klimke - beat the chasing New Zealanders by just 6.6 penalties.

11 October 2012George Lane Fox (GBR), founder of the Bramham International Horse Trials, died peacefully at home on 9 October.
He was the ninth generation of his family to live at Bramham Park in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, where he started the Bramham International Horse Trials in 1973.
The Bramham International Horse Trials have kick-started the careers of many world-famous Eventers, and every year the CIC and CCI 3-star events attract a large number of home-grown and international athletes.
