HSBC FEI CLASSICS™ 2012/2013: NICHOLSON CLOCKS TIMELY FIRST ROLEX KENTUCKY WIN

Andrew Nicholson (NZL) rode with a winner’s confidence on Libby Sellar’s beautiful black horse, Quimbo, to secure his first-ever win of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event (USA), third leg of the 2012/2013 HSBC FEI Classics™.
Nicholson has made no secret of the fact that for him this season is “all about the HSBC FEI Classics - if William lets me!” and, at this halfway stage, he now holds a commanding 10-point lead over William Fox-Pitt (GBR), who jumped clear to finish second on Seacookie TSF.

Andrew Nicholson’s Cross Country performance on Quimbo was the stuff of dreams at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event (USA), third leg of the HSBC FEI Classics™ 2012/2013. The New Zealander is now deservedly holding onto first and second places at the top of a considerably altered scoreboard with a fence in hand over third-placed Buck Davidson (USA).

All eyes will be on Andrew Nicholson (NZL) this weekend as he heads for the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event (USA) on 25-28 April to try to extend his lead in the HSBC FEI Classics™ 2012/2013 series.
Nicholson enjoyed a remarkable run of success last autumn, winning Burghley CCI4* (GBR), Blenheim CIC3* (GBR), Boekelo CCI3* (NED) and Pau CCI4* (FRA) in quick succession to take the world number one slot in the HSBC Rankings.
In Memoriam: Anton Bühler (SUI), 1922-2013
4 April 2013Swiss Olympic Eventing medallist Anton Bühler passed away on 29 March at the age of 90. Bühler won Eventing team silver and individual bronze at the Rome Olympic Games in 1960, Switzerland’s only Olympic medals in this discipline to date.

IN MEMORIAM: ADRIENNE HOFER (DEN), 1958-2013
28 March 2013Adrienne Hofer (DEN), Chair of the Danish Eventing Committee since 2007 and Danish National Safety Officer for Eventing, has died following an accident. She was 54.
She was one of the leading lights in the FEI National Safety Officer community, and also worked closely with the Danish Equestrian Federation on improving safety at Eventing competitions and in riding schools.
