The FEI is deeply saddened to announce that a tragic accident causing the death of rider Tina Richter-Vietor (GER), 32, occurred during the Cross Country phase of CIC 2* Schenefeld (GER) on Saturday 4 August.

Tina Richter-Vietor was a highly experienced and well known rider. She had been a double bronze medallist at the European Eventing Championship for Young Riders; two weeks ago she won the German national Eventing title with the regional team of Weser-Ems.

The technical specifications of the course were within the dimensions stated in the rules.

The death of Tina Richter-Vietor is a tragic loss and the FEI extends its condolences to her family and friends. The causes of this accident are currently being investigated. This fatality is taken very seriously and will be addressed by the FEI Safety Sub-Committee.
