Miranda Cadwell from United States took the marathon gold medal for pairs, in style. With her two golden geldings Cadwell was the fastest driver in two obstacles and second in four of them.

The 38-years-old driver felt very good after driving her best international result ever.

“I have really good ponies, and they love what they do. So I am happy, very happy”, says Miranda Cadwell who actually looked for a single pony two years ago but ended up buying a pair, and now she definitely a pair’s driver:

“I like the pair. There is more power to the pair, and that’s just my thing.”

Many drivers have reported the marathon obstacles as both technically and physically challenging. Though the American pair winner was calm about the marathon today.

“We were here at the event in May, so we knew how the conditions are. And I actually think the course designer was nicer to us today than in May,” says the American driver, who is now number three in the overall standing.

Second in the marathon came Dutch Ewoud Boom with 75.41 points. Boom’s great marathon sent him direct from a 15th place to a fifth place in the overall standing. Swedish Rebecca Kristiansen took the third position in the marathon with 77.13 points, followed very close by Steffen Abicht, Germany, with 78.26 points and Lars Dau, Denmark, with 78.54 points.

This means that young Lars Dau keeps the lead in the pair class with 119.18 points total – and even has a nice margin to number two, the reigning World Champion Steffen Abicht with 125.30 points.
Abicht on the other hand can almost feel Cadwell’s breath on his back. There is only 1.12 points between them.

Also Rubert Ganhör, Austria, with 132.60 points and Ewoud Boom with 135.73 points stand a good chance for a combined medal, so the excitement is intact before the cones tomorrow.
