2012 FEI World Driving Championships for Singles

The FEI Non Olympic Sports Director, Ian Williams, together with the FEI appointed Technical Delegate Mr Richard Papens recently visited the site of the upcoming FEI 2012 Singles Driving Championships at Lezirias, Portugal.

Accompanied by the President and Secretary General of the Portuguese Federation, Mr Cidade Moura and Mr Bandiera De Mell, the visit included sight of the ongoing construction of the new driving obstacles designed by Richard Nicoll (USA), the arena to be used for the Dressage and Cones competitions together with the facilities for stabling, accommodation and catering.

The venue at Lizirias, some 40 minutes from the Portuguese capitol Lisbon, has a long history of hosting equestrian competitions and International events and Championships.

‘There is no doubt that the Driving Championship Organising Committee is totally committed to providing all those attending the Championship the greatest opportunity to excel in their competitive performances’, commented Ian Williams following his visit to the venue. He added, ‘ The National Federation President and Secretary General were also impressed with the work being done at the venue and are looking forward to hosting the Nations who will make the trip to Portugal this coming September’.
