Famous relatives His wife Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum represented Germany in equestrian jumping at the Olympic Games in 2008 and 2012. His older brother Ludger won gold in the sport for West Germany at the 1988 Games in Seoul, and went on to represent Germany at six editions of the Games between 1992 and 2016.
