FEI to Drive Commercial Expansion with New Executive Director – Commercial 22/04/2008
The FEI has retained Sports Recruitment International to identify a new Commercial Director to drive commercial expansion.

Based at the Federation’s headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Executive Director – Commercial will be responsible for developing a long-term programme which realises the Federation’s commercial potential through broadcast and digital media, sponsorship and licensing - in keeping with the process of modernisation which has driven the FEI since the election of FEI President, HRH Princess Haya in 2006.

To date, this has included changes to the governance structure, efforts to align the organisation, and continued commercial initiatives, including new approaches to FEI events and products, which now have the FEI ideally positioned to take the next significant commercial steps for the future.

The worldwide market for horsesport is significant both within and beyond its traditional European stronghold. The new Executive Director - Commercial will be required to work with National Federations to drive the sport forward at all levels. They will identify and harness the potential of digital media, including IPTV, deliver new opportunities to grow its audience worldwide and develop new revenue streams.

The pivotal nature of the role was underscored by FEI Secretary General, Alex McLin, who said: “The FEI wants to see the sport grow and this role is critical to attracting new participants, fans and partners.”

The Executive Director - Commercial will be responsible for a broad range of marketing and commercial activities and will conduct a review of current sponsorship and broadcast arrangements, considering the structure and packaging of sponsorship deals and embracing the potential of new technologies to enhance rights income.

They will also examine existing licensing arrangements, ensure open and productive communication with and between all stakeholders and develop a cohesive marketing strategy.
